Description

1841 50C WB-101 MS63 PCGS. Like all early 1840s Seated halves, Mint State examples are scarce-to-rare and the 1841 is no exception. This frosty example displays translucent almond-gold toning that deepens at borders, with strong silver luster on both sides. The strike is nearly full throughout, with a razor-sharp eagle and bold definition on the star centers and Liberty's head and curls. All of the vertical shield lines extend well into the horizontal lines above on the reverse shield. A few light, squiggly abrasions are noted beneath the eagle's right (facing) wing. Population: 7 in 63, 7 finer (11/15).
