Description
Near-Gem 1841 Half
1841 50C MS64 PCGS. Three years ago we offered a Gem of this scarce early issue and it had a finish similar to this piece. The fields are brightly reflective, this effect being accomplished by a Mint employee striating the dies; which, of course, can be seen in the fields when closely examined. Fully struck throughout, each side is brilliant. An awesome early Half and one of the finest known. Population: 5 in 64, 1 finer (7/01).From the Richard Genaitis Collection.
