Description
1843 50C MS63 NGC. Intense orange-gold and violet-gray patina dominates this sharply struck Seated Half. Both sides are frosty and have semi-prooflike reflectivity in the fields. An interesting die break (as struck) gives the eagle's shield a slightly lumpy appearance. A few minor abrasions are noted on the lower reverse field, but these are not inappropriate for the grade. A scarce issue in Mint State. Population: 19 in 63, 19 finer (12/04).From The Richard J. Chouinard Collection of United States Coins, Part Two.(#6243) (Registry values: N1793)
