Description

1843-O MS 63 NGC. Actually one of the more available New Orleans halves among the earlier dates. Still, quite a scarce item in mint condition compared to later dates with only 9 pieces certified in MS 63 by NGC and 1 in higher condition. This is a well struck coin with good luster and moderate amounts of turquoise-blue and golden-russet toning over both sides, heavier toward the borders. There are a few abrasions here and there that account for the grade with a small group in the right obverse field being the most distracting.
