Description

The Pittman 1845-O Half Dollar

1845-O 50C MS 64 PCGS. Normal Date and Mintmark. Superb, deep multicolored toning, in slightly different configurations, can be seen on both sides. Below the toning, there are a few old marks, but the eye appeal of this coin is far above average. The '45-O is not an easy issue to locate in this grade and almost impossible to find nicer. Population: 5 in 65, just one finer (6/99).
From the Ronald W. Brown Acadiana Collection; Ex: Pittman II Sale (Akers, 5/98) , lot 1530, where it realized $2200; purchased by John Pittman in Numismatic Gallery's May, 1948 sale of the Walrath Collection, lot 697, for $11..
