Description
1846 50C Tall Date AU 50 ANACS. Spiked 4. Breen-4790. In his Encyclopedia, Breen describes this variety as "rare" and asserts that the spike on the crossbar of the 4 may be the remains of a misplaced date. A minimally marked coin despite having seen light circulation, both sides are bright and lustrous beneath delicate golden-gray iridescence.
