Description
Rare Mint State 1846-O Half With an Illustrious Pedigree
1846-O 50C MS64 PCGS. Medium Date, a.k.a. Small Date. Golden-brown and magenta toning covers both sides of this lustrous coin and lightens to gunmetal-blue at the rims. Because of die polishing, just a trace of the drapery can be seen off of Liberty's elbow. The polishing has also attenuated the vertical shield stripes on the reverse.Ex: Harlan P. Smith Collection (S.H. and H. Chapman, 5/11/06); John H. Clapp; Clapp Estate, 1942, to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr.; Eliasberg II (Bowers and Merena, 4/97), lot 1937.
