Bright Gem 1848-O Half Dollar
1848 50C MS65 NGC. Ex: Sweet Collection. Bright white, with heavy visible luster, this is one of only five of this date to merit a Gem grade from a major grading service (12/07), with none graded finer, and only the third such Gem we have had the pleasure to handle. A little bit of strike weakness is noted on some of the upper stars and the F in Half; however, the overall eye appeal is tremendous. A few inconsequential marks can be seen in the fields, presumably the grade-limiting factors.Ex: Bowers and Merena, lot 1483 (3/04).(Registry values: N2998)
