Description
1848 50C AU58 NGC. Breen-4808. A die state of the Open 4 variety, the present example displays what Breen describes as a Closed 4 in the date. The author describes this variety was "very rare." This is an attractive coin for the grade with some of the original semi-prooflike finish still intact. Both sides have toned in medium gray patina with mottled orange peripheral highlights. Typically abraded for the grade with bold overall definition. This lot is accompanied by NGC Photo Proof # 110130-026 that describes the Breen-4808 variety.
