Description

1849-O WB-101 Seated Half, MS64
Only Two Finer Coins at PCGS

1849-O 50C WB-101, Die Pair 6, R.3, MS64 PCGS. The obverse die shows heavy rust lumps on the portrait and shield. Bright silver luster dominates some streaky tan-gold toning that courses across the obverse, yet the fields are reflective and a sharp strike defines the star centers and Liberty's hair strands. The reverse is equally well-struck and deeply toned in a more prevalent distribution of the same toning, with gunmetal-blue shades added to the mix. Only a few tiny marks account for the near-Gem designation. Population (all varieties): 8 in 64, 2 finer (8/16).
