Description

1850 50C AU55 PCGS. The scarcity of the 1850 is related to the California Gold Rush of the era, which led to an increase in the value of silver. Half dollars were removed from circulation and melted to reclaim the bullion content. This lightly circulated example displays orange and red-brown toning. Teal and plum shades appear at the extreme edges. The fields are typically abraded. Population: 10 in 55, 37 finer (8/13).
