Description

1850 Liberty Seated Half Dollar, MS62
Rare and Undervalued Issue

1850 50C MS62 PCGS. WB-101.
The small mintage of 227,000 pieces largely has disappeared over the years, leaving this Philadelphia date on a par with the equally rare 1851 date as extremely difficult to find in any Mint State grade. This is a wonderful example, with remarkably smooth surfaces and prooflike flash around the devices. Light, attractive toning covers both sides of the coin in a colorful mix of golden-orange, lilac, sky-blue and lime-green with a silver-gray base. Generous amounts of soft luster and a bold strike add life to the pleasing surfaces. Only a few light abrasions on the reverse keep this rare Seated half from an even higher grade. Population: 3 in 62, 17 finer (1/14).(Registry values: N2998)
