Description
Well Struck 1850 Near-Gem Half Dollar
1850 50C MS64 NGC. The 227,000-piece mintage 1850 half dollar is extremely scarce in any grade and is a significant rarity in Mint State, where Randy Wiley and Bill Bugert (1993) designate it with an R.6 rarity level. Sea-green and yellow-tan patina gathers at the margins of this lustrous near-Gem, and a well executed strike imparts strong definition to the devices. Minor field marks deny Gem status.
