Description

1850 Liberty Seated Half Dollar, MS63
Normal Date, Undervalued Issue

1850 50C WB-101 MS63 PCGS. Seated halves from the early 1850s become increasingly scarce for the 1850, 1851, and 1852 issues, a result of low mintages and fluctuating silver values in relation to the influx of California gold. Balance was restored in 1853, but not until many coins were melted for their intrinsic silver value. This Select Mint State example is prooflike on both sides with pale-gold toning and sharply struck devices. A few faint, hair-thin field lines are noted. Population: 8 in 63, 18 finer (12/15).
