Description

PCGS 1852 MS 63. A very scarce coin in all grades, as are all halves struck between 1848 and 1852, as great numbers of these dates were melted because the bullion content was greater than the coin's face value. Only 15 pieces have been so graded by PCGS (1/93) with only 2 finer. This coin was struck from polished dies and exhibits considerable reflectivity in the fields. There are a couple of weakly struck stars around the head of Liberty, but otherwise well detailed with light, even color over both sides. Trends $3250 (1/18).
