Sharply Defined, Lustrous MS 66 Arrows and Rays Half
1853 Arrows and Rays MS 66 NGC. While Arrows and Rays halves are relatively available in the better grades of AU and lower-end Uncirculated, there are very few truly choice, upper-end Mint State examples known. All too often the pieces seen are darkly toned or show indifferent luster. This piece, however, has thick, satin-like surfaces that are nearly flawless. At first glance the coin appears to be brilliant, but closer examination reveals pale lemony-yellow color and wisps of faint golden on the obverse. A truly remarkable Arrows and Rays half and one of the finest we have ever offered for sale. Population: 6 in 66, 0 finer (1/99).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27TV, PCGS# 6275, GSID# 6271)
