Description
1853-O Arrows and Rays AU 50. The scarcest of the two mints available of this one-year type. Struck from a late state of the dies, with a die crack running from the left side of the obverse below the first star, lightly through the figure of Liberty, and thence to the rim at the 11th star. Most of the stars show heavy outlines from having been repunched. An interesting variety, the likes of which we have not seen before. Both sides are bright and untoned.
