Popular 1854 With Arrows Half, MS 64 PCGS

1854 50C Arrows MS 64 PCGS. In an effort to reduce die preparation time and increase working die longevity, Mint Director Colonel James Ross Snowden ordered the rays removed from the reverse of the half dollar in 1854. This revision created another brief type that is highly sought by type collectors and half dollar enthusiasts alike. A pleasing Choice Uncirculated specimen, this example carries thick gunmetal-gray surfaces that display isolated sea-green and gold highlights along the right obverse periphery. The powerful strike extends to such difficult areas as the star centrils, Liberty's head, and the eagle's left (facing) leg. If there are any abrasions on these smooth faces, the even patina conceals them from view. In sum, this is a premium quality piece with no grade limiting detractions.
