Description
Seldom Offered Gem BU 1854-O Arrows Half
1854-O 50C Arrows MS65 NGC. While Choice quality examples of this Arrows, No Motto issue abound in our auctions, Gems do not show up with any regularity. In fact, we have only offered two other MS65 1854-O Arrows Halves in our Signature Sales since 1997. The present example is bright with untoned, silver-white surfaces. Both sides are free of the striking incompleteness that is sometimes noted on survivors of this issue, and there are no mentionable abrasions. Some spindly die cracks (as struck) are noted around the obverse periphery, and clashmarks (also as produced) are noted in the right obverse field and in the reverse field below the eagle's left (facing) wing. A conditionally scarce survivor that is earmarked for inclusion in the finest type set. Population: 9 in 65, 8 finer (11/02).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24JM, PCGS# 6280, GSID# 6332)
