1855-O Arrows Half Dollar, MS65
Few Finer at NGC
1855-O 50C Arrows, WB-101, Die Pair 6, R.4, MS65 NGC. The
1855-O Arrows Seated half dollar is often compared to the 1854-O,
but the mintage is only two-thirds as large. This lustrous Gem
example offers mostly untoned centers on both sides, deepening to
amber at the obverse rim. Outlining on the obverse devices suggests
an early die state, since those features fade in later die stages.
The strike is quite sharp, and only scattered, infrequent marks
preclude an even finer grade. NGC reports only four finer examples
(12/25).Ex: Dallas Signature (Heritage, 10/2009), lot 693.
