Description
Doubled Date 1856-O Half, WB-102
1856-O 50C AU55 ANACS. WB-102. Doubled Date. FS-006.5. Very Early Die State. Repunching on the date is most apparent above the 56, but examination with a glass will also show traces of repunching at the bottom of the 18. Rated as an R.4 by Wiley-Bugert in XF-AU, and later die states are relatively common, but Halves from this early state of the dies are very scarce. Sharply defined throughout, the brilliant surfaces show just a trace of pale lavender patina around the obverse periphery. From the Tommy Dorathy Collection of Seated Halves. 0
