Description
Gem 1857 Seated Liberty Half
Only Three Coins Finer at NGC
1857 50C MS65 NGC. The 1857 Seated Liberty half dollar
claims a mintage of nearly 2 million pieces, but high-grade
examples are seldom encountered today. Shades of ice-blue and light
gold toning enliven the surfaces of this rare Gem specimen. The
devices are well struck, with a little flatness on some of the
stars and the eagle's leg. The F in HALF is weakly impressed. Ample
mint luster shines through the toning. Census: 13 in 65, 3 finer
(2/11).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24HS, PCGS# 6290, GSID# 6275)
