Description
1858-O 50C MS64 NGC. Despite a sizeable original mintage of 7.2 million pieces, the 1858-O is not at all common in the finer Mint State grades. The present lot offers an interestingly toned near-Gem whose satiny surfaces are sharply impressed throughout. Streaks of tan, charcoal, and rainbow colored patina overlay the otherwise lilac-gray surfaces. Pleasing brightness is seen in the fields as the coin rotates into the light. Population: 15 in 64, only 5 finer (9/01).
