Surprisingly Elusive Gem 1859 Half Dollar
1859 50C MS 65 PCGS. A lovely coin from the standpoint of originality, the surfaces display enveloping antique-gray toning with multicolored undertones. The strike is sharp and all features show crisp detail. Although considered an important issue for Gem quality type purposes, the 1859 boasts only 8 examples in MS 65 and 1 finer at the two major grading services (12/99).From the Richard Doyle Collection.
