1859-S MS 63 NGC. Although more than 500,000 pieces were originally struck, this is a very elusive date, particularly in mint state. Both services combined have certified only 15 uncirculated specimens, some of these undoubtedly being resubmissions. This example is fully defined with all details being very sharp. A light coating of gray-gold patina enhances the satiny surfaces. A rare opportunity for the collector of Seated halves. NGC population: 3 in 63, only 2 finer, both 64s.
