Description
Beautifully Toned 1861-O Seated Half
1861-O 50C MS 64. Rich antique-copper toning blankets both sides with blushes of electric-blue and golden-orange iridescence sprinkled throughout. The underlying surfaces are, however, lustrous and shimmering. This premium quality coin is an important reminder of the chaos that surrounded the opening months of the Civil War.Ex: Stack's 9/84 Sale, lot 972; 1999 Chicago ANA Sale (Heritage, 8/99), lot 7072, where it realized $1,667.50.
