Rare 1863-S Half Dollar
1863-S MS 64 PCGS. Pretty lavender-gray toning glances across the obverse. The balance of the coin is silver-gray and well frosted. Mintage figures and price guides simply do not do the 1863-S half dollar justice in mint state evaluations. Uncirculated pieces are not at all common and choice examples rarely surface. A fine opportunity for the specialist. Population: 2 in 64, one finer (1/97).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24JC, PCGS# 6310, GSID# 6349)
Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
