Description
Elusive Gem 1863-S Seated Half-Dollar
1863-S MS 65 NGC. Clean, satiny surfaces are framed in antique-golden toning, along with an occasional blush of violet and blue. The devices are well defined throughout and hints of die clashing are found on either side. Mintage figures and price guides simply do not do the 1863-S half dollar justice in mint state evaluations. Uncirculated pieces are not at all common and choice examples rarely surface. A fine opportunity for the specialist.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24JC, PCGS# 6310, GSID# 6349)
