Not Sold Description
Choice BU 1865 Half Dollar, Ex: James Bennet Pryor
1865 MS 64 PCGS. "No Drapery." Breen-4923. Formerly in James Bennet Pryor's collection of half dollars and sold as lot 190 in that landmark half dollar sale. The striking details on this piece are very bold with no singular area of weakness noted. The surfaces are mostly brilliant with bright, satiny luster. A bit of light golden patina can be seen on each side, peripherally on the obverse, more evenly spread on the reverse. This is one of the inadvertent "No Drapery" half dollars that can be found in almost any year of the series, created by die polishing not by design intent. The drapery is almost gone with just a trace of the outer line still visible. Very scarce in this condition.Ex: 1975 ANA Sale (Superior, 8/75), lot 636.
