Description
Conditionally Rare 1867-S Half Dollar, MS65 NGC
1867-S 50C MS65 NGC. A lustrous Gem with slightly matte surfaces and a small amount of golden-brown toning around the periphery on both sides. The surfaces are exceptionally clean with no mentionable marks on either side. A large percentage of the S-mint halves in the 1850s and 1860s were given as payment to Chinese laborers working on the Western railroads. Many of the known high grade coins came back to the United States from China in the 1970s. Only one coin has been certified higher by PCGS.
