Description
1869 50C --Cleaned--ANACS. Unc Details, Net AU50. WB-102. Repunched 18. Slight evidence of repunching can be made out on the first two digits in the date. From a small hoard that was dispersed several years ago, but this variety is still scarce in this condition, probably meriting an R.6 rating. Sharply struck throughout, the fields have a bright semi-reflectivity (more than just hairlining) and the devices are snow-white. Occasional dabs of golden-brown color are seen on each side, but are primarily located on the reverse.
From the Tommy Dorathy Collection of Seated Halves. Ex: Andrew Alexander Collection (Bowers and Merena, 11/96), lot 1942, where it realized $308.
