Description

Desirable 1870-CC Seated Half, VF25

1870-CC 50C VF25 PCGS. "If I were seeking an attractive middle grade circulated example of the 1870-CC half dollar, I would choose this one." That is the comment made by the cataloger to an associate when this coin was first examined.
While the half dollar and the silver dollar are both reasonably plentiful in comparison to the other denominations struck in Carson City during the opening session of production, examples with fully natural, unimpaired surfaces like this coin are not easy to locate. Both sides have delightful silver-gray surfaces with subdued golden-brown toning. While there are some collectors who expect catalogers to find fault with every coin, the only blemish on this piece is a minute rim bump near star 3.
