Description
Scarce 1870-S Half Dollar MS63
1870-S 50C MS63 NGC. The surfaces are well defined save for a few of the obverse stars and the left side of the scroll, being layered in milky golden and lilac patina. Despite a mintage of just over a million pieces, the specie-hungry West put the vast majority of 1870-S Half Dollars to heavy commercial use, making Mint State representative quite scarce. Population: 1 in 63, 0 finer (12/04).Ex: Stack's (10/02), lot 626.
