Condition Rarity 1871-CC Fifty Cent, XF45
1871-CC 50C XF45 PCGS. The 1871-CC half dollar is scarce overall and rare in XF and finer condition. Randy Wiley and Bill Bugert (1993) assign an R.5 rarity rating to XF and AU coins. Mint State pieces are virtually unobtainable; indeed, PCGS and NGC have certified just five Uncirculated examples (9/09). Low intensity golden-gray patina with bluish-gray accents resides on both sides of this Choice XF specimen, each of which is well defined and minimally marked.
