1872 Half-Dollar, MS 66
1872 MS 66 PCGS. Even though almost 900,000 halves were coined in 1872 at Philadelphia, very few survived in mint state. In fact, only 27 uncirculated examples have been certified by both services combined (5/96), and this is the finest thus far certified by PCGS. NGC has graded a single MS 66, possibly the same coin. Boldly defined throughout, there are essentially no mentionable surface defects. Each side is moderately toned in shades of the sunset and bordered in cobalt-blue. An important opportunity for the Seated half or type collector.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24K7, PCGS# 6333, GSID# 6290)
