Description

Gem 1874 With Arrows Half Dollar
Ideal Type Selection

1874 50C Arrows MS65 PCGS. The 1874 Philadelphia half has the most generous mintage of the Arrows, With Motto type, yet it remains a condition rarity at the Gem level and extremely rare any better. Collector demand for type examples far exceeds the supply, especially for coins so attractive as this well-defined beauty. Gunmetal-blue patina leavened with lavender and burnt-orange occupies the margins and partly outlines the central devices, while the frosty interior luster is largely pale silver. A single "wedge" contact to the right of the eagle's neck precludes an even finer designation. Population: 15 in 65, 4 finer (9/11).(Registry values: N4719)
