Description

Boldly Struck, Lightly Patinated
1875-CC Seated Half, MS64

1875-CC 50C MS64 PCGS. CAC. The mints of the United States achieved record total output in 1875; Treasury officials were convinced that a glut of new circulating coins would cure many of the nation's financial ills. Most of the record coinage came in the form of silver coins and double eagles. The half dollar, a workhorse denomination, saw production in excess of 10 million coins between Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Carson City, which made 10% of the total or more than 1 million coins, a record for the Nevada presses. This near-Gem is a well-struck beauty despite the large production, with the head of Liberty and all star centrils fully articulated. Much luster remains under a light layer of hazel-gray patina. A super coin for the issue, an assessment with which CAC concurs. Population: 22 in 64, 4 finer (8/11).(Registry values: N2998)
