Description

1877 Seated Half Dollar, MS67 Prooflike
Sole-Finest Certified Example

1877 50C MS67 Prooflike NGC. Alongside the 1876 issue, the 1877 Seated half dollars are plentiful in most grades. Both the 1876 and 1877 P-mint half dollars had mintages exceeding 8.3 million pieces. Among the survivors are an extremely small number of certified prooflike coins. This 1877 MS67 Prooflike example is the sole-finest certified by either PCGS or NGC. Bits of bluish-brown and gold toning occupy the obverse margins of this remarkably reflective Superb Gem prooflike example. Lavender-gray patina encompasses the reverse, without diminishing the prooflike flash when viewed at an angle. The strike is sharp throughout. NGC Census: 1 in 67 Prooflike, 0 finer (3/25).
