1879 50C MS65 PCGS. CAC. 1879 began a twelve-year run of minimal mintages of half dollars. The 1879 commercial production was only 4,800 pieces. The present Gem offers vibrant luster and light peripheral tan-gold toning. The strike is sharp, and the reverse is close to immaculate. The obverse field displays only delicate marks.
