1879 50C MS66 PCGS. Type Two Reverse. The 1879 issue marks the beginning of a long stretch of low-mintage Philadelphia-only dates for the half dollar, and only 4,800 business strikes were produced for that year. This Premium Gem has gleaming, moderately reflective fields that are essentially silver-white. Devices are sharply struck and frosty. Population: 46 in 66, 15 finer (4/09).(Registry values: N2998)
