Description

1880 Gem Uncirculated Half Dollar
Popular, Low-Mintage Date

1880 50C MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1880 was saved in moderate numbers, undoubtedly because of its impressively low mintage of only 9,755 strikes for circulation. Most such coins have bright, prooflike fields, but on this piece the flash is visible but not overwhelming as on a proof or first-strike business strike. The striking details are strong throughout and each side is brilliant except for just a touch of peripheral color. Population: 16 in 65, 19 finer (1/12).(Registry values: N2998)
