Not Sold Description
Vividly Toned Gem 1881 Half Dollar
1881 50C MS65 NGC. Waves of apple-green, rose-red, and pearl-gray color alternate across this sharply struck and bagmark-free Gem. Only 10,000 pieces were struck, since minor silver denominations of the era were neglected in favor of legislatively required Silver Dollar production. Shrewd collectors set aside examples, but few have persisted in high Mint State grades. Population: 8 in 65, 16 finer (2/05).(#6363) (Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24KU, PCGS# 6363, GSID# 6301)
