1881 Prooflike Half Dollar, MS66
Dazzling, Brilliant Surfaces
1881 50C MS66 Prooflike NGC. Only 10,000 circulation strikes
were produced of the 1881 half dollar, some of which are "first
strikes" that exhibit nearly undiminished reflectivity in the
fields from the initial die polish. This is such a coin that is
brilliant throughout and shows strong prooflike mirroring with
moderate field-device contrast. It takes close examination and a
good light source to see the slight cartwheel effect in the fields
that distinguishes this from a proof. This is the only four coins
certified as MS66 Prooflike by NGC (4/13).Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 86363, GSID# 213664)
