Description

1883 50C MS64 NGC. Although the Philadelphia Mint struck nearly 12.3 million silver dollars in 1883, only 8,000 business strike halves were issued. A lovely near-Gem survivor, this piece exhibits a medium-gray appearance overall, with closer examination revealing shades of copper, sea-green, yellow, orange, and red. The surfaces display areas of reflectivity beneath the patina. The coin exhibits a strong strike aside from minor incompleteness at the upper obverse and the eagle's claws. Census: 22 in 64 (2 in 64 ★ ), 20 finer (10/13).(Registry values: N1793)
