Description

1887 Half Dollar, MS66
Attractive Original Toning, CAC

1887 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Eugene Gardner famously called all low-mintage, late-series Seated halves "eye candy." This sweet Premium Gem 1887 is prooflike on both sides (undesignated as such on its old blue-label PCGS holder), with dappled blue and amber-gold toning -- one of just 5,000 circulation strikes issued. The strike is sharp except at Liberty's head, where stars 7 and 8 lack their central details and Liberty's hair is a bit soft. A few tiny marks are well-hidden in the toning, while CAC endorsement adds to the appeal. Population: 15 in 66 (1 in 66+), 7 finer. CAC: 6 in 66, 4 finer (9/19).
