Description
Premium Gem 1888 Seated Half Dollar
Frosty Luster, Clashed Dies
1888 50C MS66+ PCGS. CAC. This frosty Premium Gem 1888
business strike is one of only 12,000 made during the year. We
nonetheless surmise that this piece must have been among the latest
strikes, given the bold obverse die clashing that appears at
Liberty's right (facing) elbow from the eagle's right (facing) wing
on the reverse. Less-obvious clashing also appears on the reverse
beneath the eagle's neck, where it appears to sport a beard.
