Description

1889 Half Dollar, MS65
Wildly Toned, Low Mintage

1889 50C MS65 NGC. Due to ongoing large-scale silver dollar production, the Philadelphia Mint only struck 12,000 half dollars for commerce during 1889. Captain John Haseltine and other well-connected local dealers set aside examples, and today the issue is scarce but collectible in Mint State. This well-struck Gem commands attention for its beautiful -red, blue, and butter-gold toning. The surfaces are exceptionally smooth. Census: 12 in 65, 8 finer (11/22).(Registry values: N2998)
