Description

Brilliant MS66 1890 Half Dollar
Mintage 12,000 Circulation Strikes

1890 50C MS66 NGC. Devoid of toning, the surfaces have a brilliant-white sheen with no distracting abrasions. The strike is sharp, if not absolutely full in all areas, and the eye appeal is expectedly strong for a flashy Seated half at the MS66 level of preservation. Modest hints of brightness are evident in the fields, mostly at direct light angles. The 1890 is the last issue in the Seated half dollar series that had a mintage under 100,000 coins: A mere 12,000 pieces were produced as circulation strikes, plus another 590 coins in proof format. Census: 7 in 66, 7 finer (1/10).(Registry values: N2998)
