Description

Low Mintage 1890 Seated Half Dollar, MS66 PCGS

1890 50C MS66 PCGS. This is a gorgeous, semi-prooflike example with glowing fields and fully impressed devices beneath delicate golden-brown iridescence. A strong contrast is noted between the motifs and the fields, especially as the coin is rotated beneath a light source. The reverse surfaces are impeccably well preserved, while the obverse reveals just a tiny mark on Liberty's neck, and a few light ticks in the right and left fields. PCGS and NGC have certified a total of just 18 coins of this low mintage issue (12,000 business strikes) at the MS66 level, with eight graded higher (12/04).(#6372) (Registry values: N2998)
