Description

1891 Half Dollar, MS65
Reflective Final-Year Type Coin

1891 50C WB-101 MS65 PCGS. A fully prooflike Gem example of this final-year issue, showing a bold strike and exceptionally clean surfaces. There is the faintest hint of champagne toning over each side, but the coin is otherwise brilliant. This issue is scarce in MS65 and is rarely offered in higher grades. The mintage of 200,000 pieces marked the end of the ultra-low-mintage half dollar period from 1879 through 1890, although this is still a better date in most grades. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 22 in 65 (1 in 65+), 18 finer (9/19).
